William Wegman moves to California to teach at California State University, Long Beach.

1970

While in Long Beach, William Wegman and his wife at the time adopt Man Ray, a Weimaraner that becomes a central figure in Wegman’s art.

1972

Miriam Schapiro participates in Dextra Frankel’s all-women exhibition, Invisible/Visible: 21 Artists, at the Long Beach Museum of Art.

1977

David Hammons, Senga Nengudi, and other members of Studio Z participate in Studio Z: Individual Collective, an exhibition at the Long Beach Museum of Art.
