About

Combining the pop aesthetic of contemporary consumer culture with seductive materials and often erotic and disturbing images and actions, Saya Woolfalk’s work challenges the way visual media shapes our perceptions and fuels our desires. Through performance, sculptural installations, paintings, and video, Woolfalk explores longing and consumption in the context of gender, sexuality, and race. For her 12 x 12 project, she builds an environment and stages a performance.
