In response to the exhibition Doris Salcedo, Chicago poet Malcolm London gives an in-gallery spoken word performance and takes part in a discussion with Lisa Yun Lee, director of the school of art and art history at the University of Illinois at Chicago, around issues related to activism and social justice.

About the Artist

Malcolm London, called the Gil-Scott Heron of this generation by Cornel West, is an internationally recognized Chicago poet, activist, and educator, whose energetic performances tackle tough contemporary issues head-on. He is also cochair of Black Youth Project 100's Chicago chapter and national organizer for Young Chicago Authors where he teaches writing to young people across the city of Chicago and organizes Louder Than A Bomb Youth Poetry Festivals.
