About

Looking for fresh ideas for your curriculum? Join us at our March Teacher Workshop, inspired by renowned sculptor Doris Salcedo.

Practicing artists design and lead our workshops, using exhibitions and works of art at the MCA as fodder. Together, we investigate works of art in the galleries, make art, and connect these experiences back to your classroom.

The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago presents the first survey of the work of renowned sculptor Doris Salcedo (Colombian, b. 1958). Salcedo—who lives and works in Bogotá—gained prominence in the 1990s for her fusion of post-minimalist forms with sociopolitical concerns. Her work addresses the experience of loss and trauma due to systemic violence, and evokes the significance of bearing witness and processes of collective healing.
