The Subject Is the Studio Talk Series

Transformation, mediation, gesture, embodiment. The artist is both performer and observer in the studio, and the protagonist of the myths that surround this space. Three artists in the MCA exhibition Production Site: The Artist's Studio Inside-Out, discuss their own works in the show, using them as a springboards for reflecting on the creative acts of the studio.

Nikhil Chopra's extended performances chronicle history, including his own, through the languages of theater, installation, painting, photography and sculpture. Chopra recently presented his work at the 2009 Venice Biennale. He received an MFA from Ohio State University and now lives and works in Mumbai.

John Neff's sculptures, photographic images, and collages meditate on the very processes of making and transforming meaning through material contact, the experience of the body, and the mediating mechanisms of technology. An artist and writer based in Chicago, Neff received an MFA from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001.

Amanda Ross-Ho assembles materials and detritus, from found objects, photographs, drawings, sculptures, to paintings and video clips, into installations that explore questions of craft and "high" art and seem to clue us into a rich and personal socio-cultural world. Born in Chicago, she is now based in Los Angeles.
