Meet celebrated jewelry designers Annemieke Broenink and Kate Cusack when they bring their unique pieces to MCA Store for this special event. The showcase takes place on the first floor of the MCA Store.
Amsterdam's Annemieke Broenink's ingenious use of rubber is influenced by the rich Northern European heritage of handmade lacework, resulting in striking necklaces, collars, and chiffon scarves.
Kate Cusack of Brooklyn, New York, has elevated the often concealed element of clothing construction-the zipper-and made it the visual focus of her sophisticated necklaces, bracelets, and pins. Ms. Cusack, who is also an accomplished costume designer, received her MFA from the Yale School of Drama in 2006.
Appearing on the second floor of the MCA Store on November 7 at Noon - 4 p.m. will be Rebecca Ann Rakstad. Rebecca creates letterpress printed postcards, posters, buttons and t-shirts. All products are pressed using hand-set type.
Rebecca Ann Rakstad is a printmaker living in Chicago, IL. She received her Master of Fine Arts Degree in Book and Paper Arts from Columbia College Chicago and her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her primary focus is in letterpress printing using hand-set type and a Vandercook press. She has been working under the name Rar Rar Press since 2004. She has sold her work at indie craft fairs such as Renegade Craft Fair and Bust Magazine's Craftacular, and internationally on her Etsy website. She is currently a member of the No Coast Art Collective.
Purchases from the MCA Store support programs at the MCA.
