Maalem's dynamic and energetic dance is bookended with atmospheric film projections.

Roundtable: Vitalities: The body and modern dance
Saturday, October 18, 2  to 4 pm
Free

Enter in conversation with Maalem, Susan Manning (Dance scholar, Northwestern University); David Bunn (former Head of the Wits School of Arts, University of the Witwatersrand) and Jane Taylor (Skye Chair of Dramatic Art, University of the Witwatersrand) to learn about the rich tapestry of new dance being made in post-colonial Africa. Drawing from the creative inspiration Maalem gained from time spent in Lagos, Nigeria, the discussants share viewpoints about real and imagined challenges resulting from cultures brought together in modern dance choreography and performance.
