This double-bill concert features Contempo, the University of Chicago Contemporary Chamber Players, and Grazyna Auguscik Group with solo accordionist Jarek Bester. Led by composer Shulamit Ran, the first half of the concert includes the highly acclaimed members of eighth blackbird, in addition to soprano Tony Arnold, Amy Dissanayake on piano, Yang Wei on pipa, and Jarek Bester on accordion. Highlights include Esa-Pekka Salonen: Floof for voice and instruments, Sofia Gubaidulina: De Profundis for solo accordion, and Shih-Hui Chen: Fu II for pipa and five players.
