Face-off: a small, seemingly insignificant and faceless person named Little Branko travels through the 20th century with a marvelous voice that rivets the world’s leaders. During his journey, Branko (played by a child’s snowsuit) meets various people wither too courageous or not brave enough to change the world. Based on a comic strip, the Chicago debut of this multimedia show by the leading Slovenian dance-theater company combines puppetry, physical and object theater, dance, and live vocal and instrumental music in cabaret and musical theater styles for a truly virtuosic performance.
About the Artists
Betontanc (“Concrete Dance”) uses rich dramaturgy, the physicality of the human body and ideas about the constriction of freedom to create multimedia performances. Based in Ljubljan, Slovenia, and led by theater director Matjaz Pograjc, Betontanc includes a variety of musicians, dancers, actors and designers. Formed in 2004, Latvian puppet theater company Umka.lv has created nearly ten critically-acclaimed works for international audiences.
