Suicide Kings: In Spite of Everything
In Spite of Everything is the latest entry into the emerging genre of hip-hop theater, featuring the Bay Area's most dynamic spoken word collective, The Suicide Kings. Under the direction of GOLDIE award-winning, Bay Area legend Marc Bamuthi Joseph, the play begins the day after a school shooting in an unnamed American town. As police and school administrators ask themselves the perennial question, "What went wrong?" they discover a note that implies that three poetry teachers in the school might have the answer.

Recommended for mature audiences.

Louder than a Bomb 2008 winners

Louder than a Bomb 2008 winner Kuumba Lynx performs, in addition to a performance by an all-star team comprising the 7 top-placing individual poets.

Yuri Lane: From Tel Aviv to Ramallah: A Beatbox Journey (excerpt)
Sonic acrobat and acclaimed performer, beatboxer Yuri Lane brings to life 15 unforgettable characters, each with an individual soundtrack. From Tel Aviv to Ramallah is a dynamic story of two young men leading surprisingly parallel lives: Amir, an Israeli motorcycle deliveryman and club DJ, and Khalid, a Palestinian entrepreneur with a thriving Internet café. This play also features live “sets” generated by video artist Sharif Ezzat, whose shifting visual projections are timed according to Lane's hypnotic beats.
