Greening the MCA

Green Museums

The MCA was recently certified by the city of Chicago as a Green Museum. We’re one of 6 museums in the city to receive this distinction. The city has recognized our commitment to ordering from local suppliers, buying recycled products, using low-impact materials, increasing energy efficiency, and creating a Green Team – which has expanded our recycling efforts, revised resource-wasting practices, and created educational outreach initiatives, among other activities. And this is just the beginning. With the Chicago Department of Environment’s help, we’re working toward LEED-EB (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design for Existing Buildings) certification.
