Susan Giles uses innovative video techniques to examine issues related to travel and tourism. For her MCA exhibition, she will debut Panzoomtilt, a six-monitor video installation, in which she collected travel footage from friends and acquaintances and edited together each of the most basic film shots-zoom in, zoom out, pan left and right, and pan up and down-that direct how and what we see. Many of the scenes are only a few seconds long, reflecting the quick and often superficial experience one has as a tourist.
