UBS 12 × 12: New Artists/New Work:
Scott Wolniak
July 2 – 31, 2005

We encourage you to preview this exhibition before visiting with children; there may be some elements that are not appropriate for younger visitors.
Scott Wolniak works in video, drawing, and sculpture, investigating visual systems and patterns that appear in our everyday environment. For this exhibition, the artist creates a "graphically patterned meadow" by collecting items such as wrappers, packaging, and straws found on the street as he walks from his West-Side home to the MCA. Wolniak will then reconfigure this debris into the forms of vegetation and weeds, drawing a connection between unwanted plants and the proliferation of postconsumer matter in our physical and psychological environments.
