Christine Tarkowski creates work that either mimics architectural forms or interacts with preexisting structures, often incorporating images to create an experience that is both spatial and pictorial. Her work bridges the gap between the applied and visual arts and frequently touches upon politically-charged issues of war, urban violence, and sexuality, among others. In doing so, she demonstrates how our built environment and other functional objects and phenomena are connected to broader social concerns.
