ABSENTEE BIDDING

Absentee Bids
If you are unable to attend the Auction in person, and wish to place bids on Live Auction works, you may give the Charity instructions to bid on your behalf. The Charity representatives will then try to purchase the lot(s) of your choice for the lowest price possible, and never for more than the top amount you indicate. Please note that the Charity offers this service as a convenience to patrons who are unable to attend the Auction. Although we will make every effort, the Charity will not be responsible for error or failure to execute bids.

Placing Absentee Bids
Absentee bids may be placed on Live Auction items only either in person during the preview at 1747 West Hubbard Street, or by telephone before 5 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2006 by contacting Wendy Coffelt at 312-397-3895. Telephone bids must be followed by written confirmation by signed letter or fax and must include a credit card number, expiration date, and signature. A representative of the Charity will confirm your absentee bid by fax or letter. In order for an absentee bid to be valid, you must have written confirmation from the Charity of its receipt. If you do not receive written confirmation of an absentee bid, please contact 312-397-3895 by 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 26, 2006. Bids placed by telephone are accepted only at the Charity’s discretion and at the caller’s risk.

When placing an absentee bid, be sure to indicate accurately the lot number(s), description(s), and top price you are willing to pay for each lot. Always indicate a “top limit”, the largest amount that you would bid if you were attending the Auction yourself. Alternative bids should be indicated by using the word “OR” between lot numbers. Thus, if your early bids are unsuccessful, we will continue to execute bids for alternative lots until a bid is successful.

Please place your bids as early as possible. In the event of identical bids, the one received earliest will take precedence. Successful bidders will be notified and invoiced following the Auction.
